2P4/2B1 Computer Graphics Project
2B1 finished the DTP section of their S2 Computer Graphics Project. The task was to produce 2D and 3D computer drawings of a toiletries product. The students produced detailed production drawings that could be used to manufacture the product. A 3D model was created and rendered with materials such as coloured glass and metal. This was converted to a JPEG and used to produce an presentation poster that could be used in a magazine advert.
EVALUATION
Post answers to the following questions:
1 Explain why you chose the colour scheme used in your poster.
2 What effect were you trying to achieve with your choice of font?
3 What materials did you use on your 3D model and why?
4 Were you satisfied with the overall impact of your poster?
5 What improvements or changes would you make if you were doing the poster again?
H-GC: DTP Homework Tasks

All Higher Graphic Communication candidates now have 23 days left to complete their thematic presentation. Due to the school move we have lost some time and we know require you to complete the bulk of the DTP tasks in your own time (this can be at home if you have the internet and a computer or in school during lunchtimes and free periods).
Over the next few weeks you will be completing your CAD models, producing a range of technical drawings and concentrating on the rendering of your final model.
Please visit the Higher GC page to download:
- Task Instruction Sheet
- Microsoft Word Template Files
- SQA Exemplar Folio
- St. Augustine's Pupil Exemplar Folio 2009
- DTP Common Commands in MS Word
You will also need to use your Leckie & Leckie course textbook and your A-Z of DTP in order to complete these tasks.
If you have any questions please see your teacher.
S2 2P5 Toy Car CAD project
Mr Kerr's 2P5 class have just finished the S2 CAD project using ProDesktop. The theme of the project was a child's toy car. The first tasks were to model the individual parts, assemble the parts and produce an orthographic drawing. The next tasks were to add a surface render to the model then export it as a JPEG. This was used to design a poster advertising the product. Most pupils produced colourful cars with some crazy advertising blurb!! Well done.
